Each day we wake up and go through our routine of nourishing our bodies. Some reach for that fresh glass of water, where others sleepwalk over to their coffee maker to brew their favorite drink. Whatever is your vice, today our practice is to take an extra moment to acknowledge what we eat and drink before we dive in to satiate our appetites. As you can probably guess as your already 1 week into your 28 days, the intention is to have as much gratitude for the blessings of food and water. The more grateful we are for the gift of clean water running through our taps, to the service people that bring your food to your local grocer, increases the flow of abundance that you'll always have enough!
You may notice these days that there's an elevated sense of scarcity, that we won't have enough to go round. It is up to each one of us individually to believe that there is an abundance of resources for everyone. Like attracts like, and the more we practice the concept of gratitude you'll start to notice the magic pop up in all the unexpected places. A wonderful book to reference is 'The Education of Little Tree'. A well written young adult novel about a boy who is raised off the land by his grandparents. There is a section about only acquiring what is needed and nothing more. This action alone, continues the natural cycle for everyone involved so there is plenty of food to eat.
The magical ingredient for you today is before you eat or drink anything to think about where it came from. As detailed
as the construction workers who laid the piping in order for you to receive clean water everyday. When your eating your favorite foods, think of where the products came from and how it eventually landed on your plate to enjoy. Feel as much gratitude as you can towards each one and say the magic words 'Thank you' either out loud or to yourself. To add an element of play and imagination, consider sprinkling a magical seasoning over all your food. Your meals may taste even that much sweeter!
Magic Practice #8 The Magical Ingredient
(Based on the Magic by Rhonda Bryne)
1. Repeat steps 1 & 2 of Day 1: Count your blessings. Make a list of 10 blessings. Write WHY you're grateful. Reread your list, and at the end of each blessing say, Thank you, thank you, thank you (3x), and feel as grateful for that blessing as you can.
2. BEFORE you eat or drink anything today, take a moment to really look at what you’re about to consume. Think of how, where and who has delivered your meal that’s before you. From the coffee bean, to how it was picked, processed and traveled it’s way to land into the very cup your about to drink. In your mind or out loud, say the magic words Thank You!
3. Before you go to sleep, take your magic rock in one hand and say the magic words, Thank you, for the best thing that happened during the day.
